Our Committee

The Gaelic Dragons committee is an elected group of Gaelic Dragon members who not only paddle, but perform much of the background work necessary to keep the Gaelic Dragons team paddling smoothly (get it?!).

Each member of the committee is nominated by a peer and elected for a one year term at the Gaelic Dragons Annual General Meeting (AGM) traditionally held in early February. To serve on the committee, you must have been paddling with the Gaelic Dragons for at least 6 months prior to election.

2012 Committee

El Presidente

Donagh Hourihan

As President, it’s Donagh’s job to make sure the Gaelic Dragons committee is performing up to par. He’s the decision-maker; the tie-breaker; the man-with-the-plan. Yeah, those things.

The Captain

Mark Cronin Mark is the boat man. He’s the training lead. He Makes sure the Gaelic Dragons get their Paddles Up and Kick Arse. With the help of our coach, Shawn Quek, Mark makes sure training runs smoothly and the Gaelic Dragons put up a competition at the races.

Sexetary

Jonathan McLean As Secretary to the committee, it’s Jonathan’s task to keep the group organized and the Captain informed. He organizes and runs the committee meetings, and also maintains all of the team’s records.

Treasurer

Li Ping Tee

Li Ping is the money-(wo)man. It’s not easy understand boat depreciation, paddle price indexes or life-jacket inflation rates, but Le Pingers keeps on top of it all and makes sure the team doesn’t end up upstream without any paddles.

Logs

Conrad Marcel-Young Do not let the headpiece or facepaint mislead you, Conrad has, by far, the most important job of the committee: he keeps the beer flowing. After a nice long paddle, as you unwind with a beer (or water, or 100Plus)  on the beach, don’t forget to thank Conrad for making it happen.

Comms

Andy Pickering Andy is the email guy. Every week, he collects the news, events calendar and training updates from the committee, compiles it into a weekly update, and pushes that send button. He is also the one receiving any requests for info to this website, so if you were about to send in something mean, because just look at this guy, isn’t he so adorable.

SponSocRec

Carisa Fey Don’t worry folks, Carisa normally doesn’t bring out the hammer on someone’s first day of paddling. She usually waits until halfway through that first day before the hammer comes out. But, as Sponsorship / Social / Recruiting wonder-woman Carisa knows how to get people to do what she wants. Who says hammers can’t be fun…? Oh, everyone…? Ok, Carisa, give me the hammer.
