Our Committee 2014

The Gaelic Dragons committee is an elected group of Gaelic Dragon members who not only paddle, but perform much of the background work necessary to keep the Gaelic Dragons team paddling smoothly (get it?!).

Each member of the committee is nominated by a peer and elected for a one year term at the Gaelic Dragons Annual General Meeting (AGM), traditionally held in early February. To serve on the committee, you must be a current financial member who has been paddling with the Gaelic Dragons for at least 6 months prior to election.

Jacqui Rankin

 As President, Jacqui is the official representative of the Gaelic Dragons. It’s her job to make sure the Gaelic Dragons committee is performing up to par. She also has the final word in committee decisions and ensures that the committee (and sometimes our boat) stays on course.

Kerstin Schulze

 Kerstin runs the show when we’re on a boat. She’s the training lead. She makes sure the Gaelic Dragons get their Paddles Up and Kick Arse. With the help of our coach, Shawn Quek, Kerstin makes sure training runs smoothly and the Gaelic Dragons put up a competition at the races.

Donovan Childers

 When not riding in the tail of a dragon boat Donovan is a professional excel jockey. He has put his skills to good use in maintaining team training records and helping keep the committee organized with the power of spreadsheets. Get your cell marked ‘present’ at practice and earn your position on the starting block come race day.

Lailani Gungon

 Lani is our numbers guru… aka “Tresureer”. She makes sure that everyone pays their membership and training fees which are then put right back into our equipment purchases and maintenance. She also helps organise great training sessions and events. With her superb accounting knowledge, Lani ensures that we are not only a fun organisation, but also financially sound.

Dave McEneaney

 Dave has, by far, the most important job of the committee: he keeps the beer flowing. After a nice long paddle, as you unwind with a beer (or water, or 100Plus) on the beach, don’t forget to thank Dave for making it happen. Extra special thanks are due when he again gets up at 5:30am to make sure all our equipment, drinks and other supplies make it to a race location!

 Lauren Ford Lauren sends you the latest news and training updates from the committee. She might be the Gaelic spammer of the year, but you’d better make sure those emails don’t land in your spam folder! She also makes sure you always find the latest information about events on the website and Facebook group, so check them out!

When not paddling, the Gaelics like nothing more than getting together to enjoy some craic! When it comes to organising all our fun non-paddling events, Caitlin is the woman! You can also catch this singing Gaelic Dragon performing live at bars around town – always guaranteed to be toe-tapping fun!
