‘Tis The Season To Be Jolly!

Race season in Singapore is officially over and ’tis the season for the Gaelics to be jolly and celebrate all the achievements we have made this year! And speaking of celebrations, we have a line up of events coming the whole month that you should look forward to. That includes the Gaelic Christmas Paddle and the Annual Awards Night, which is also our Christmas Party.

And every year, we are nominating for the Best Male and Female Paddler, the Most Improved Paddler, and the “Fun Awards”. Do send in your nominations to the Gaelic President at nominations@gaelicdragons.org.

We are all looking forward to receiving your nominations and seeing you at the coming events!

NO TRAINING THIS WEEKEND!

Due to the number of Gaelics coming to Penang this weekend, including coach, we are giving you another weekend of break!

Do keep an eye on posts for training times for the next few weeks ,especially for the Christmas paddle.

Some additional info you need to know:

Again, please email your award nominations to Nuala before the Awards Night/Christmas Party.

Auslics(AustCham + Gaelics) On Tour
December 2-3

This year, it’s not only the Gaelics who’s going on a tour for the Penang International Dragon Boat Festival this coming December 2 – 3. We will be joined by the Aussies, which we later called the team “Auslics”.

And not only that, we have a recent addition to the team. Some of the Filipino Dragons – Singapore will be coming to join our team.

Since not everyone will be there to support the team on the races, you can show your support by liking our team photo on the Penang Facebook page here. The crew with the most likes will receive a special gift from the organisers.

Wish those coming to Penang well before they fly tomorrow, if you see them around!

Gaelic of the Month for November

Gaelic of the Month is something the captains decided to start this year but we realised we’ve never really explained much about it!

Gaelic of the Month is decided at the end of each month by the captain and vice captains. It’s a nice way for us to acknowledge someone who we think has put in that extra bit of effort at training, volunteered to help with out with something or done something that really shows the Gaelic spirit over the previous month.

We very specifically chose to do Gaelic of the Month (and not paddler of the month), because a lot of what we do happens off the water and we wanted to be able to include that.

If you think a fellow Gaelic deserves to be considered for the accolade in future months you can let the captains know and we’ll keep your suggestions on mind.

With all of that – this month the award goes to…..

Andy Pickering

For his encouraging words and for organising all the seniors on the last Singapore River Regatta. Well done Andy!
